Before Delivery
Payment, insurance, Tesla app, phone key, trade-in preparation and what to bring.
Tesla Resources
I've taken delivery of 7 Teslas. Over the years I've learned what to check, what tends to get missed and what you want documented before you drive away.
I put everything into a simple 3-page printable checklist you can bring with you on delivery day.
Free • Printable • 3 Pages • Based on 7 Tesla Deliveries
The Checklist
Six sections, one box at a time — from the app tasks you finish days early to the settings you dial in on your first night with the car.
Payment, insurance, Tesla app, phone key, trade-in preparation and what to bring.
Paint, panel gaps, glass, wheels, tires, lights, trim, seals, VIN and underside.
Seats, upholstery, headliner, screens, carpet and included accessories.
Doors, windows, climate, cameras, speakers, lights, charging, USB ports, wireless charging and phone key.
Photograph defects, document issues, verify VIN, pricing and fees, and understand what Tesla will repair.
Driver profile, phone keys, Sentry Mode, Dashcam, charging schedule, Wi-Fi and daily charge limit.
The most important habit on this whole list: photograph anything questionable and get it documented before you accept the car. Once you've signed and driven off, the conversation gets a lot harder.
Personal
I've picked up 7 Teslas, and this is the list I actually use on delivery day.
Tesla delivery can move quickly, especially when you're excited about getting the car. I'd rather slow down for an hour, inspect everything, photograph anything questionable and get it documented before leaving.
Print this out, bring a pen and work through it one box at a time.
